I recall, back in the day, on the rare occasions I participated in mixers or ice-breakers, a common question was "What's your sign?" I liked getting this type of question a lot better than "What do you do for a living" because I hated to talk about my J-O-B (this was well before I became a coach, folks). I'm not very interested in astrology, but I could answer that question definitively (I'm a Virgo), and for the most part, the description of a Virgo fits me well.
I don't hear that question anymore, even though I've become more social of late (especially since discovering twitter -- don't get me started talking about twitter -- oh, now it's too late!):
The question I get from new acquaintances (on twitter at least) now is "What's your Myers-Briggs personality type?" There's a good reason for that: my online bio reveals that I am an introvert and my coaching business specializes in working with introverted women. So I attract those who are interested and/or curious about the 16 personality types identified by the MBTI (Myers-Briggs Type Indicator).
I am an INTJ, and it seemed to me that a lot of the same people who asked me the question above were also INTJs. I began to wonder: who's following me on twitter; who's reading this blog; who's subscribing to my newsletter? Are they all INTJs?
The best way to find out is to ask. I've already asked my newsletter subscribers and now I'm asking you blog readers: What's Your Type? You can take a free online test here. Then please share your results by leaving a comment. Go ahead, take the test. It's harmless. I triple-dog-dare you.
